Some rehab centres will allow you to use your phone at all times, and some will ban there use entirely until you have completed rehab. At Rehab Clinics Group, our policy is that you are allowed to use your phone outside of sessions. This is to ensure complete focus on the most important parts of your treatment without any distractions. Can You Use Your Phone During Rehab?

Why Limiting Your Phone Usage Is Key to Successful Recovery

As stated in the intro to this page, some rehab centres will allow the use of electronics and others won’t. At Rehab Clinics Group we allow the use of electronics such as phones during free time while you are at rehab but you will not be allowed to use your them during a workshop session, therapy or counselling.

Naturally, this is important because it offers you a chance to isolate yourself during these important therapy sessions. Also, using your phone too often can allow you to speak to people who may hinder your recovery and people who may not fully support you. That is why it is important to limit its use.

Detoxing from the use of your mobile phone can also be a positive step. Many people find the social media part of phone usage to be a very toxic environment that can heighten feelings of anxiety and stress which is something we will be trying to heal through therapy and counselling.

Staying relaxed and focused on your recovery is something we will encourage from the moment you step into any of our centres and we believe that our policy on phone usage is a key part of ensuring that your stay with us is a successful one.

What Help Is Available?

Each type of addiction needs a specific programme to assist you for the long term. Therefore we have developed personalised therapies and techniques that are proven to be successful. When you join rehab, the first step will be to complete a thorough assessment which will properly determine the support you will receive with us.

Several aspects of your life course will be taken into account and we always work holistically to ensure that you have access to the support you need. You will have 24/7 help which will aid you in your efforts. Rehab will feel like a team effort from the outset. Residential rehab has a high success rate and whilst there are rules to adhere to, it will never feel like prison.

By respecting these key human values, we create a framework that is conducive to recovery. You will find that there are a plethora of treatments and therapies, including detox which remains the most vital element of your therapy. With rehab, you can regain your life and manage abstinence. You can make new goals, detox safely and be involved in therapies and treatment sessions.

Some of the treatments you will have access to are:

  • Detoxification
  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
  • Individual, group, and family therapy
  • REBT (Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy
  • Long-term follow-up to prevent relapse

To learn more about what to expect in rehab, we will talk you through some major points. The detoxification element is well integrated into our clinic. Then you will work alongside specialised medical professionals, including nurses who will support you throughout. Whilst you will never be left alone, you will still have an element of freedom, to relax and gather your thoughts.

Rules and Regulations in Rehab

There are regulations that you are informed about when you enter rehab. This includes any general rules relating to the living conditions in the establishment. If you are receiving care, it is important to respect the rule of total abstinence during the stay. We also fully encourage participation in the entire therapeutic programme created for you. This is because rehab is most successful when strictly followed.

Rules and regulations will vary, but we pride ourselves on a friendly and warm environment. These are generally set to remove any temptations caused by outside influences. Mobile phone usage and internet usage can hinder you in multiple ways. When you remove yourself from social media and focus on your programme, your internal vision becomes clearer.

Finally, you can see yourself in a new light, and gain access to new outlooks on life. Holistic approaches work well because it allows you to remain mindful throughout the process. Using your phone too often will be a huge distraction. You may fall back into old unhealthy ways, that may leave you feeling more anxious. It may exacerbate your symptoms and troubles.

We promote respect for all other people within the rehab environment. We appreciate that certain behavioural issues may pose a problem and anger issues can arise. However, your therapies will focus on whatever your individual issues are. You can delve into anger management and anxiety therapies. These will be lifelong tips that you can continue to use.

Naturally, possession of illegal drugs such as cannabis, cocaine, heroin, LSD, or ecstasy is not tolerated. You must not sneak any type of drugs or alcohol into rehab. There can be no success if you do not fully commit to your recovery. By sticking stringently to your medical rehab programme, you will ensure a healthy future is possible.

Can You Still Have Contact with Family and Friends?

Of course! As outlined above, limiting the use of your phone does not mean that you can’t use your phone at all. We also encourage communication with chosen people who are supporting you on this journey. We also offer family counselling sessions, so you can invite chosen relatives (or friends) to help you in your recovery.

They will learn to assist you post-rehab and learn together to forge a new pathway for you. If you are concerned about possible side-effects of going into rehab, there is very little need to worry. This is your choice and destiny, therefore you owe it only to yourself to get healthy again.

Your co-workers don’t need to know that you’re going to therapy. You do not need to tell your boss you are entering therapy. Depending on who you work with and how much you trust them, you can talk to them, but it is not a requirement. Therefore, you can enter rehab with ease, knowing your recovery journey is entirely confidential. Everything that happens within rehab is secure. You do not have to worry about your privacy, as confidentiality is something we highly focus on.

If you have contact with friends and family that do not know you are in rehab, you can stay general in your answers, simply talking about a period of rest or reflection on your life. There is no need to enter into anything you do not desire to talk about with anyone.
