Heroin Detox

During drug treatment, as with other depressants, it is important to perform a full drug detox. Because of the severe effects of withdrawal, is essential that the drug detox is carried out in a controlled environment surrounded by experienced professionals. In some cases, clients will be put on replacement therapy, where a substitute drug is prescribed, such as methadone. This enables the client to gradually reduce how much of the drug is being taken over a time prescribed by one of our Doctors.

Our Opiate treatment programme is primarily designed to help clients develop new ways of controlling their drug use or achieve total abstinence from it and help you stay that way. Choosing our treatment programme will inevitably mean you will need an initial drug detoxification programme. This aims to eradicate the drugs from your body with the support of a clinical prescribing regime and to help you safely detox from opiates and cope with the withdrawal effects that can be experienced while detoxing.

As part of this detox, you will be assessed and prescribed by our Doctor and then placed under close observation for the first 24-72 hours whilst you commence your detoxification treatment. This will enable our team to closely observe how you respond to this treatment and ensure you remain comfortable and safe throughout the process.

If you are very dependent on more than one drug or combine your drug use with alcohol, it is likely that you may be at risk of serious withdrawal and our team of dedicated staff will monitor you closely for any signs of serious physical illnesses associated with withdrawal over a longer period of time.

We employ a range of psychiatrists, psychologists, experienced and qualified addiction staff and a range of other professional therapists that are on hand to help you through these issues. You will be allocated your own worker, who will help you design your Recovery Action Plan (RAP) and guide you every step of the way on your new journey to recovery.

How long will my treatment take?

The duration of drug addiction rehabilitation varies and is typically dictated by the severity and complexity of your addiction. To achieve a safe and comfortable detoxification and begin to prepare yourself for the next steps, we would recommend a minimum of 28 days for an effective opiate withdrawal programme. However, once your initial detoxification is underway, you will be able to actively join in and really benefit from our therapeutic rehabilitation service. This will help you work through and address the range of issues that are associated with your drug use. This is proven to increase your chances of a full recovery from alcohol addiction and help you sustain that recovery once you leave our care.
