About This Page

Rehab is the best and most effective solution to long-term abstinence following substance abuse. Misusing substances, including illegal drugs, prescription drugs and alcohol, is very dangerous. Using a substance that serves no purpose but makes you sick and addicted can have major consequences. There are many elements of discrimination against users.

Rehab seeks to change your life’s course and write a better future.

If you are fearful of entering rehab, it is important to note that you should consider seeking support from experts in rehabilitation clinics. We must emphasise that addiction is a serious disease that must be addressed head-on to make recovery possible.

How Long is Drug and Alcohol Rehab?

How Long do you Have to Stay in Drug and Alcohol Rehab?

The length of time you will spend in drug and alcohol rehab will depend on several factors, including the severity of your addiction, your ability to commit to treatment, and your overall health. In most cases, people with a mild addiction can expect to spend around 30 days in treatment, while those with more severe addiction may need to stay for 60 days or more.

However, there is no hard and fast rule regarding how long you should stay in rehab. The important thing is that you get the help you need to overcome your addiction and make lasting changes in your life.

You can achieve sobriety and live a happy life with the right support.

Here at Rehab Clinics Group, we recommend a 28-day programme to get you back to full sobriety.

Planning Drug and Alcohol Rehab

Planning rehab is particularly easy. There are many routes available that are crafted for this specific reason. You can first talk with your GP and discuss options about the help you can get relating to inpatient or outpatient rehab. They can give you a general health assessment.

You can go via a referral team who will assess you and help you find the best place to stay for your rehab. This can be completed 24/7, 7 days a week. You will always have access to assistance if you feel your addiction is beginning to overtake your life.

You must remember that a team of specialised individuals will do planning rehab. Once all areas of your addiction are considered, a tailor-made plan will be put together to ensure you have access to the best treatments and therapies.

Types of Drug and Alcohol Rehab

There are two main forms of rehab. Inpatient rehab, where you stay inside the clinic for a set amount of time, and there is also outpatient rehab, which is a little diluted in care. You will have access to therapies but will not stay in a residential capacity.

Once you have a plan in place, you will find the many treatment and therapies available in rehab. The treatment begins with a comprehensive diagnosis of the disease and any diseases or ailments connected.

We will then clarify achievable goals for the treatment and develop a focused individual therapy plan. There will be particular importance attached to knowing what will happen and when and having 24/7 access to help and support.

To simplify the schedule of treatment, here is a breakdown of what you can expect:

  • Qualified detoxification, which lasts around seven days
  • Treatment of internal and neurological issues
  • Treatment of psychiatric issues
  • Psychoeducation and therapies to deal with traumas
  • Psychotherapy in individual and group sessions
  • Occupational therapy, art therapy, and sports therapy to learn how to deal with your emotions
  • An aftercare plan

What Is Included in a Rehab Programme?

Depending on the length of the rehab programme you opt for, the majority of programmes can be broken down into the below 3 steps.

Step 1 – Detoxification

This is perhaps the most vital step as this is when we remove the toxins from the body and allow your body to heal and your mind to find clarity.  The first 48 hours of the hospital phase are crucial, and overall, detoxification will take around seven days. Further tests, such as biochemical, neurobiological and nutritional parameters, will be conducted to see how well the detox has worked.

There are many kinds of therapies available to you as an addict. You will have access to treatments, which begin on day one, and then therapies that help you deal with recovery’s mental and spiritual aspects. Some of the types of therapies you will find are:

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
  • Individual, group, and family therapy
  • REBT (Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy
  • Long-term follow-up to prevent relapse

Step 2 – Therapies & Treatments

Therapies and treatments for addiction are most successful when they integrate a little of all those mentioned above. You can involve family and friends in your journey. This is something that we greatly encourage.

Letting people in on your journey allows them to see your progress. Furthermore, it negotiates a better plan. They can assist you with your therapies and enter counselling sessions to heal traumas and deal with problems.

These counselling and therapy sessions will continue long after you leave our treatment clinic. In fact, during this time, you will be able to navigate your new life, and we will help facilitate this, whether this is finding a new job, studying a new subject or anything related to your new journey.

We are here to support you, which is when the aftercare plan begins to form the final phase of your abstinence journey. This is something that we offer all patients.

We understand and appreciate the benefits and need for an aftercare plan. You will never be left alone; you will always have someone to call or speak with whenever you need. So what is an aftercare plan?

Step 3 – Aftercare

An aftercare plan is a vital element of your rehab. An aftercare and rehabilitation phase follows up with the weaning phase and therapies. This is where you will be supported in shaping your everyday life without addictive substances and learning to navigate the new world.

Self-help groups and therapies will continue. You will still have counselling sessions and whatever you need to feel comfortable going forward.

This self-help plan will be prepared and cultivated by a team of professionals. You will be able to learn new tricks and tips to remain abstinent. Drug and alcohol addiction, after all, is a chronic condition, and relapses are not uncommon, but they can be managed. You do not fail if you relapse.

However, we encourage following a bespoke aftercare plan to ensure that this does not happen. The risk of relapse after therapy is significantly lower. So do not worry.

Call us today for further help regarding the length of rehab and how to plan for rehab. We can help get the process started.
